North River Boats- Seahawk, Seahawk OS, Seahawk Offshore
Choosing the right boat for the right situation is not easy. So much thought goes into every build, and every custom feature we add for each individual customer. The needs of the customer here were complex as they wanted an offshore capable fishing boat, but also a vessel that can play hard when at the lake with their family, or even the occasional camping trip. Both worlds collided into one build that features something for just about everyone.
We chose the North River Seahawk model which features an aggressive entry and exit while using a .250 heavy gauge aluminum bottom with a true reverse chine. The standard features on this model really make a strong case for a pure fishing boat. Dual suspension seats on swivels, 110 gallons of fuel, trim tabs with an led light indicator, and two benches that offer sealed water-tight storage just to name a few. Sticking with the offshore theme, we deleted the wood floor and went with a .190 welded in aluminum floor, with side channels and scupper drains on deck. Draining the deck quickly, and leaving all debris on top of the scuppers so as not to interfere with bilge operation. The deck is also coated in a non-skid material for safety, and features a large in deck fish box. Top selections vary for the Seahawk model, but they feature several configurations that fit most everyone’s fishing or pleasure boating situation. Available in a convenient folding top, a full hard top with an Alaskan bulk head, or a rigid frame removable top with canvas skin, in this instance we took a combination of each. Hard sides with sliding windows, a rigid welded structure, and canvas skin covering the helm. While taking shelter from the ever-present rains, or basking in the brief summer sun, comfortability is not overshadowed by the aesthetic value. Port and starboard net and gaff holders keep the deck clear, and offer additional rod storage for easy access when the bite is on.
With modern day efficiency, power, and run ability in mind, the new “old school” work horse of the single Yamaha F150 is seldom outmatched in value or longevity. Redundancy throughout the boat’s systems including electrical and in gauges, meant twins were the perfect fit. Yamaha’s T9.9 High thrust kicker motor rounds out the power plant, for endless hours at trolling speed. While mounting the motor, the kicker is plumbed for a hot wash station, and the bracket is the retention basin. This gives you the opportunity to warm, and wash your hands, or start the end of day clean up early. The two-rung boarding ladder makes getting back on board easy, and combined with our portside boarding door, getting everyone on deck without climbing over the transom is very convenient and safe.
On deck amenities include a raw water wash down system, in-floor fish box, transom fish box, and a removable table in the cabin for lunch breaks. Available room for storing fish on this boat is not a problem, making it the perfect choice for your fishing adventures.
Stay tuned for PART 2 of the build after the electronics and a few other custom additions are installed…..
3 Rivers Marine is proud to be the largest stocking dealer of North River Offshore boats in the country. North River is one of the leading aluminum boat manufacturers and boasts over thirty years in the business, building a phenomenal product line that is the top choice for commercial and recreational vessels. Utilizing their commercial production facility, the North River Offshore Boats are built with a commercial grade hull but custom designed for a recreational setting. Here at 3RM, there is no question that this is one of the best options for the serious saltwater fisherman.
We have experienced some exceptional saltwater fishing in recent years, with phenomenal salmon fishing along the Washington Coast, nearly wide-open albacore tuna action through the summer and fall months, and great fishing for Chinook, Coho and Pinks closer to home in the Sound. There is a reason that North River has set a new standard with their offshore series. 3 Rivers Marine commits to nearly half of the North River Offshore production capacity to ensure that we have the stock throughout the year to meet demand. With production slots at a premium, we make our commitment one year in advance of delivery. That is how strongly we believe in this product.
We currently have a great lineup of 24 foot and 26 foot Offshore models in stock, so stop by the shop and check them out! During the heat of fishing season, North River Offshore models can be difficult to come by, but we have dedicated production slots available for 2015 and are ready to help you build that 23 foot to 28 foot offshore boat you’ve been dreaming about.
With some of the most coveted offshore boats in house, an incredible custom fabrication department, and years of experience outfitting saltwater boats, we have the capability to turn the North River offshore into a truly dialed in saltwater fishing machine!
New for 2015 is the North River 23′ Offshore! Features include a lifetime limited hull warranty, and a full six foot hard top with a cuddy cabin. Superior hull performance, and one of the finest fit and finished in the industry, this boat is sure to turn heads anywhere on the west coast. The deck is fully self bailing with a Matson floor covering which stands up to the pounding of all fishing applications especially crabbing and shrimping. Other features, like factory installed gunnel rails are ready for downriggers and rod holders. The roof is reinforced to accommodate safety equipment, radar or additional storage. And the offshore bracket offers a trolling motor mount, room for an additional cooler and even a swim ladder.
The 23′ North River Seahawk really offers the best of many worlds. Many fishermen and families enjoy the ability to get out of the elements. Be it the scorching sun, wind or rain, the North River Seahawk cuddy cabin provides the shelter necessary along with many creature comforts that will make you feel like you’re cheating. While the hull length is a manageable 23′, the overall length allows the boat to perform more like a 25′. This is still enough length to manage big swell, but not so much that you need a crew to operate it. Because of it’s size, this is a boat that is easily trailer-able and can be towed with a 3/4 ton vehicle.
To get some perspective on size and weight differences between the various North River offshore boats, it might be helpful to take a look and compare the differences.
