Duckworth Offshore: The Game Changer

img_6565

Gene and Michele Gorham are avid saltwater anglers that hail from Anchorage, Alaska. Like many of our out-of-area customers, they searched for a Duckworth Offshore dealer they could trust that has the experience and capacity to build them the boat of their dreams. The road led to 3 Rivers Marine.

Ultimately their new boat would dock in Seward, Homer and Whittier, Alaska. They valued a boat that had the range for multi-day excursions in the remote reaches of Prince William Sound, the seaworthiness to handle the rugged offshore conditions in the Gulf of Alaska, and the creature comforts to enjoy time with their family when boat camping. The Duckworth Offshore 26’ with an extended cabin was the ultimate choice.

From the initial meetings with Andrew and Scott, the Gorham’s knew they had selected the right people to craft their ideas and needs into a boat that will serve them well for many years. They selected a 116” cabin that would give them the space for a full dinette (convertible to a sleeper), full stand up head, galley with a fridge, sink and cooking surface, and plenty of storage. A Lewmar Windlass anchor puller was a necessity for halibut fishing. An electronics package with sonar/chartplotter/radar displays at the helm and aft station, a high-powered trandsucer/sounder module, diesel heat and custom tackle storage also were big on the list.

One final decision after the boat build was finished and all the outfitting rigged. What to name it? We feel that the Gorham’s couldn’t have picked a boat name that better describes how this boat has effected their fishing experience: The Game Changer.

The first summer with their new Duckworth was a huge success. We were through-the-roof excited to hear of the great fishing experiences the Gorham’s have had, their satisfaction with their boat, and the choice they made by building a Duckworth Offshore with 3 Rivers Marine.
